We have two types of microdermabrasion at Elite MedSpa. The first is the diamond tip for the face, neck, or chest. The second type uses oxalate crystals, which are sprayed and vacuumed across the neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, feet or occasionally gently on the face. Both are amazing for sun damage, age spots, discoloration, and exfoliation. The diamond tip helps with sculpting facial contours, removing any toxins from the skin, helping with brown spots, rosacea, fine lines, enlarged pores, and much more. Microdermabrasion also is very helpful with preparing the face for laser care.
Effects Of Heredity And Time
We were all born with smooth, baby soft skin. As we go through life our skin becomes a road map showing the effects of where we have been and what we have done. Even if we have taken care of our skin, many of us area affected by childhood and adolescent diseases, while heredity and gravity always take their toll. Exposure to the sun, use of alcohol, smoking, and nutrition all accelerate the signs of aging. Moles, warts, keratoses, scars from disease or facial trauma may further affect our skin and may even affect the way we perceive ourselves.
What Is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a revolutionary new skin restoration process, commonly referred to as “the lunch time peel” because the procedure takes only minutes to perform and most people can return to work immediately!
How Does It Work?
Microdermabrasion uses a highly controlled vacuum and pressure to move microscopically abrasive crystals over the surface of the skin. This action causes little or no discomfort while gently removing the outer layer of the skin.
By repeating this process over the course of several weeks or months, the younger, softer skin moves to the surface, revealing significant textural and color changes.
For common skin problems such as oily or dull skin, enlarged pores, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and mild pigment disorders, microdermabrasion is a gentle, effective option for many patients.
The SkinAbrader™ is a microdermabrasion device that performs a non-invasive procedure in which very fine, sterile crystals are sprayed across the surface of the skin. These crystals gently abrade away the dry and damaged surface cell layers, leaving the skin smoother and more vibrant. Treatments are provided in a series of sessions, usually at one- to two-week intervals, and involve no patient downtime. Follow-up care may include monthly maintenance sessions.
Microdermabrasion is also an excellent immediate pre-treatment for chemical peels and BelleDerm Skincare products. By removing dead skin layers, microdermabrasion opens the pores. This allows chemical peel treatment products, cell turnover treatments, vitamin infusion serum or skin lighteners to penetrate deeper into the layers of the skin for better results.
More aggressive microdermabrasion can be used to improve the cosmetic appearance of severely damaged skin, such as hypertrophic scar revision on face, arms and legs or some stretch marks.
